Winter Storm Causes 19 Deaths!

Heres alittle exciting but sad news.

PHILADELPHIA – A destructive winter storm that has left more than 800,000 customers in the dark barreled into the Northeast on Wednesday, delaying flights and turning the morning rush into the morning slush as communities braced for the worst. The storm has been blamed for at least 20 deaths and a glaze of ice and snow caused widespread power failures from the Southern Plains to the East Coast. Authorities said it could be a week before some communities have electricity again. Tree limbs encased in ice tumbled onto roads and crashed onto power lines in hard-hit Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma on Tuesday and overnight. In Arkansas — where ice was 3 inches thick in some places — people huddled next to portable heaters and wood-burning fires as utilities warned electricity may be out for a week or more.

Facing Increased Costs, Girl Scouts Downsize Cookie Boxes!

Have you heard the horrible news? Girl Scouts are downsizing cookies!!! I'm a girl scout, and I'm very dissapointed in what Girl Scout USA is doing! Here's a little more info.

It's always seemed a little too effortless to finish off a box of Girl Scout cookies, but if they are a little easier to dust off this year, it's not just in your head. To offset the cost increases of cookie ingredients, Girl Scouts of the USA made the decision to shrink its cookie boxes by a centimeter, package fewer cookies into boxes of Thin Mints, Do-si-dos, and Tagalongs, and reduce the size of its Lemon Chalet Crèmes. According to the organization, the cost of flour rose by 30 percent, assorted cooking oils by 40 percent, and cocoa by at least 20 percent. The company felt this was the best method of dealing with increasing raw material prices. Alternatively, Girl Scouts could have used cheaper ingredients, or raised cookie prices from their current price of $3.50 per box.

MISS AMERICAAA!

Heyyy Everyone,
I'm sure alot of people watched Miss America the other night. And for those who didnt, I'd like to inform you on who won!

Katie Stam of Indiana was crowned Miss America on Saturday night, fighting off a throat infection, laryngitis and 51 other contestants to win the 88-year-old pageant. The 22-year-old University of Indianapolis student became the first Miss America winner from the Hoosier State. She drew loud applause for her rendition of "Via Dolorosa" during the talent portion of the beauty pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Stam said she had trouble sleeping one night this week while she took prescription medicine to fight the infection, but got her voice back by Thursday. "I was feeling like myself again -- I will never take my health for granted," she said. Stam won a $50,000 scholarship and hopes to obtain a bachelor's degree in communications and become a television news anchor. She began competing in pageants at age 15. The first runner-up was Miss Georgia Chasity Hardman, who took home a $25,000 scholarship.

Rare Eclipse For Lucky Few

A few lucky people in the Indian Ocean will be treated to a rare event on Monday when an annular solar eclipse will transform the Sun into a dark disc with a blazing ring-shaped corona around its rim. In solar eclipses, the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth, casting its shadow on the terrestrial surface. Instead, for those directly under the alignment, the Moon covers most of the Sun's surface, and a ring-like crown of solar light blazes from the edge of the disk. For those watching from the fringe of the track, the Sun is partially obscured, as if a bite has been taken out of it.

Akon Plays Dumb About His Age!

It's been a while sice I've posted.. and since its being a new year and everything... i hope I get new followers AND new comments!!!

Even though Akon has a birth certificate, he says his age is still a mystery — and he'd rather keep it that way. "All it's going to do is depress me," he told The Associated Press in a recent interview. "I don't want to know I'm getting older. Then I'll start to think about getting checkups and insurance. I don't want that." Some have accused Akon of trying to push back his age. But the singer, who was born in the United States but spent his early life in Senegal, where his family is from, says he never knew it. "In Africa ... age is not important over there. They don't care. People only focus on it here (America) and in Europe." Akon says when people ask, he just gives him a figure that comes to mind. "I feel like I'm 21 right now," he says. "And I'll be 21 for the next 10 years."

Celestial Show Set for New Year's Eve

A delightful display of planets and the moon will occur on New Year's Eve for anyone wishing to step outside and look up just after sunset.
Venus, brighter than all other planets and stars, will dangle just below the thin crescent moon in the southwestern sky. It'll be visible -- impossible to miss, in fact -- just as the sun goes down, assuming skies are cloud-free.
Soon thereafter, Mercury and Jupiter will show up hugging the south-southwestern horizon (just above where the sun went down) and extremely close to each other. Jupiter is very bright and easy to spot; Mercury is faint and harder to see, but it'll be apparent by its location just to the left of Jupiter.
Jupiter and Mercury will set less than an hour after the sun, so timing your viewing just after sunset is crucial. You'll also need a location with a clear view of the western horizon, unobstructed by buildings, trees or mountains.
All the planets, along with the moon and sun, traverse an arc across our sky called the ecliptic, which corresponds to the plane in space that they all roughly share. For this reason, you could draw an imaginary line from the general location of Venus and the moon, down through the other two planets, and the line would point to where the sun went down. This line could also initially help you find Jupiter and Mercury.

The military personnel charged with being the eyes in the sky are certainly acting like he does — and they've been joined on the Internet by millions of believers. Even doubters have reason to pause when they hear the North American Aerospace Defense Command — or NORAD, which monitors air and space threats against the U.S. and Canada — is in charge of the annual Christmas mission to keep children informed of Santa's worldwide journey to their homes. "They challenge it, but only to a point," said Senior Master Sgt. Sharon Ryder-Platts, 49, who for five years has been a Santa tracker, taking calls from those wanting to know the location of jolly old St. Nick. According to NORAD, Santa began his latest flight early Wednesday at the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean. Historically, Santa visits the South Pacific first, then New Zealand and Australia. NORAD points out that only Santa knows his route. Last year, NORAD's Santa tracking center answered 94,000 calls and responded to 10,000 e-mails. I just started looking at this organization last year. There's games on the site and videos in towns or cities showing proof of Santa Claus and his sleigh with the reindeers.

Heyy Everyone,
Well.. this maybe my last post. =[ But I hope everyone has a happy holiday!!!

The question that haunts me most around the holdidays - mostly asked my little kids:
~"Do you believe in Santa Claus?"
I'm not gonna say if I do or not, because I don't know who sees my blog, but every year, I have a little kid come up and ask me this terrifying question!!! Just today, a 4th grader in my dance class (Gillian) asked me this. Of course I said "Definately!". But he was real once! I am gonna say that... but not to little kids =]

Break out the chapstick, lotion, mittens, hats, coats, and boots!!! Cuz WINTER IS HERE!!! Yesturday, Sunday, it snowed for most of the morning and early afternoon. We got a little over 1 inch. It's not much but, but this morning, it was 18 degrees out! i was freezing my socks off! ahahha. I know this is a kinda boring post, but i dont have any ideas. And with that, no comments. On holidays, I'm not gonna do the sate of the unions.
While I was looking on the internet, I came across a BAD thing happened at the Macy's Day Parade. Heres the one that I think is the funniest!!!

In 2006, two sisters were attacked by M&Ms. The ropes of the 515-pound balloon promoting the tasty chocolate morsels got caught up on – yes – a lamppost. Neither of the girls were hurt too badly – just some minor scrapes and bruises. In exchange for their ordeal, they received V.I.P. seats in the grandstand and a lifetime supply of M&Ms (that’s 384 packets every year, in case you’re curious).

It's kinda bad... but kinda funny in a way!!!
Also, the Jonas Brothers ROCKED OUT at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium at halftime. They played a medley starting with Tonight, leading into Lovebug, then ending with Burning Up. Even Big Rob showed up during his solo for Burning Up! Anyways, mah friend will have the inside scoop of the JoBros during halftime.
